Amelia Kirk
I create handmade jewellery from silver, copper, brass and vintage buttons. The collection includes a series of necklaces, earrings, bracelets, rings and brooches. I am inspired by knitting and home comforts, which is incorporated through the mixed media elements in my jewellery. The theme of knitting and nostalgia is portrayed through the processes of texture, piercing, soldering and setting. These techniques are combined with buttons, thread and paper to create tactile jewellery. Every stage of the making process requires an individual and personal approach. Variations in scale, colour, composition and decoration makes each item unique.
