Applications are invited from undergraduates, recently graduated and postgraduate students from art and design related courses.
Ideally suited to someone looking to develop their craft-based-practice, in a rural landscape. However, applications from all levels and disciplines of academic and vocational training in art, craft and design welcome.
This residency is offered for summer 2013 between early June and late September.
In return for accommodation and access to workshop and studio facilities, the resident is required to work 1 day or 8 hours a week in art and design related employment for Thomas Hawson. The resident is also expected to help prepare and exhibit in the Hundalee Mill Farm’s Open Studio Event, 23 – 25 August, which will also be an opportunity for the resident to exhibit and sell work.

As part of the Craft Highlands & Islands mentoring and creative support programme, Making Progress and Made to Measure programmes are open to all makers based in the Highlands and Islands at any level from new graduate to well established makers.

The main criteria are that you should be a professional maker (i.e. in business, retailing and/or exhibiting your work), working full or part time and would like to grow your business.
Growth can mean: creatively, going full time, expanding your networks, showcasing, exhibiting or retailing in areas you have not covered before. It does not necessarily mean you need to take on staff, move to larger premises or become a multi-national company!
Up to 6 makers will be supported on the Making Progress programme. The main programme runs from June 2013 until March 2014 and offers makers support through 1-2-1 and mentoring, exhibiting and showcasing opportunities, advice on your social media and website use, workshops, networking and more.

Students have the opportunity to undertake research projects with over 70 nationally and internationally recognized researchers, historians, theorists, practitioners and professionals. MIRIAD alone employs four research professors, thirteen research fellows and associates and houses the Arts for Health Unit. Based in All Saints the Manchester School of Art has a thriving community of approximately 90 students and the Hollings Faculty some 50 students.
In addition to traditional academic concerns emphasis is placed on sharing research training opportunities, student-led initiatives and research groups aimed at knowledge exchange with the creative professions and industries. The Ribble Rivers Trust would like to appoint an artist to creatively engage local young people with Burnley’s hidden rivers, enabling them to explore and get to know this important aspect of the landscape.

Applications are sought from artists working within any art form except drama, identifying how you would creatively engage local 13 to 25 year olds with Burnley’s hidden rivers. Collaborative approaches with more than one artist applying are welcome.
The project will be based in the Crib – Burnley Central Library’s dedicated youth space, which has music equipment, iMacs, screens and games consoles. Art forms that are particularly suited to the Crib include music, sound art, digital arts, animation, graphic design/comics, game design, film, photography, and visual and combined arts. Proposals that use more than one of these arts forms, either alongside each other or in combination, are of particular interest.
Project activity will be focussed in school holidays, after school and at weekends – details to be agreed with the Library.

Saltaire Inspired need a Lead Coordinator to deliver the Makers’ Fair Festival Special on the 14th & 15th September 2013.
The Makers’ Fair Festival Special is a two day event organised by Saltaire Inspired (organisers of the Saltaire Arts Trail in May) as part of the Saltaire Festival, and the Lead Coordinator will be required to coordinate the event in line with Saltaire Inspired’s delivery plan and budget. Responsibilities also include: managing your team of volunteers, liaising with various partners and organisations, and carrying out any and all activities that may be necessary before, during and after the event.
This will be a fixed term, freelance contract, with the successful candidate ideally beginning in early June and terminating in late September, although with some flexibility for the right person.

Creating Space, Junction, Goole
Junction is able to offer emerging and established artists the space to create. Its workshop room will be offered free of charge to an artist/company in order to further develop their work. Junction would like to share this process with its community both during the process and at the end, e.g. by a sharing of work or discussion of discovery. The timetable for this is to be agreed but artists offering the most engagement time with the public will be preferred.

Junction will offer 2 weeks’ use of the workshop room from Monday 22 July – Saturday 3 August free of charge. The sharing/discussion should take place on Saturday 3 August. There are several community events happening on that day, including a community beach day for families and the town’s annual horticultural show.

This project is recruiting two skilled potters to be working in the Gallery for the duration of the show. This will be a unique opportunity to participate in an ambitious artist’s project, which is being presented for the first time outside the US.
This appointment will require a commitment of a minimum of 2 days per week, including weekend and occasional evening shifts, starting July 03 and ending September 05 2013. Work days and times will be during gallery hours: 11am–6pm Tue–Wednesday & Fri–Sun / 11am–9pm Thursdays. Exhibition dates 04 July–05 September 2013 – all skilled potters must be available to meet in the week prior to the opening of the exhibition.

Unravelling Uppark, Unravelled
Unravelling the National Trust is a series of exhibitions that aims to showcase extreme or conceptual craft in a site-specific context, showing in three different National Trust venues across the south east from 2012 - 2014. The third exhibition is due to open at Uppark in West Sussex, part of The National Trust, on May 2nd 2014. It will run for 6 months from 2nd May 2014 till 2nd November 2014.
For Unravelling the National Trust at Uppark there are up to ten commissions of £1000 each for artists or makers using or subverting the notion of craft in extreme or conceptual ways. Proposed artworks should be site-specific and engage with the idea of creating interventions within the historic house setting, or within the gardens at Uppark.

The SBC is 25 this year and are celebrating this with, amongst other things, a virtual encircling of Scotland with basket related activities happening on Saturday the 22nd June 2013.
Members are encouraged to do what they like best about basketmaking; get together with others, make, talk about baskets, share techniques… The aim is to have as many different events as possible to taking place all over Scotland.
You are invited to do something in your area, for example: getting together with others to make; making a special basket; a talk or demo, exhibition, or show and tell; working with another association, historical, museum, art gallery; making an outside piece; making from found materials… you decide what suits you, your situation and your locality.

Library of Birmingham – Creative Residencies
On Tuesday 3rd September 2013 the Library of Birmingham will re-open in its brand new, purpose-built premises in Centenary Square, becoming the largest public library in Europe. Birmingham-based arts producers Capsule have been appointed to curate the opening festival season of cultural events that will run from 3rd September through to December 2013.
As part of the Discovery Season Capsule and LoB are inviting artists, creative practitioners and arts organisations to propose ideas for week-long residencies in the Playground of Discovery: an exciting and dynamic structure designed by artist Morag Myerscough to be situated in the foyer.
Residencies will need to offer free drop-in activity for visitors to the LoB around the central principle of Discovery. The structure will be able to accommodate between 10- 20 people. All residencies must engage with visitors to Library of Birmingham and offer opportunities for them to actively participate. Unless otherwise stated, you will be required to work with all ages.
