Who are we? We are Katie Honnor & Sarah James and our online retail site & community helps you to widen your audience, sell and promote your work, and keep up to date with craft news and opportunities. We’ve had a great start since our launch in December 2010 and new Makers are joining us all the time.
We want the very best of British & Irish craftspeople to work with on our site. Makers apply to join us and we use a selection panel to ensure quality and balance across our collection.

How do I apply?
Our latest application deadline has now passed and many of our categories are now full. If you're interested in joining please email us with an image and a bit of information about your work and we'll let you know if we have spaces in the appropriate category.
Two Years On...a package of support for new makers
We have launched our new package of support for new businesses and graduates of contemporary craft. Looking to the future, madebyhandonline is committed to supporting the sector even more with this new business support package, set up to provide graduates and new craft ventures with genuine direction and guidance. We're working in partnership with Christiann Dodd LLP, who are specialist accountants and business advisors for creative people, and they share our ambitions to encourage and promote the wealth of creative talent we have in the UK.
How do I apply? Please note that we are not taking on any more Makers through this scheme at the moment. We will let you know as soon as the application process will be opened again.
Join our Directory…
Don't want to sell with us, but would like to promote your business on madebyhandonline?
Our National Makers Directory is open to any British Maker of Contemporary Craft. The Directory is part of our makebyhand section and does not involve selling work with us (unless you are one of our selected Makers) but is a great way to promote your skills and your work and to help people to find you! Our aim is to make this a valuable, comprehensive resource for the industry, as well as for customers searching for specific Makers in their area.
Joining is easy. You can have a standard text-only listing for free, or a premium listing for a one-off fee of £25.
Standard:
- Up to 50 words description of the Maker’s work.
- The Maker’s address and telephone number (optional).
Premium:
- Up to 100 words description of the Maker’s work.
- The Maker’s address and telephone number (optional).
- A web address.
- A picture of the Maker’s work.
- The option to list forthcoming events where the work can be seen.
Simply email us your details and your image and we'll create a listing for you. It's as quick and simple as that!

Do you run quality craft based courses and workshops or have you attended any and want to sing their praises? We list these for free here: Courses and Workshops. Simply email us the courses details, or a link to the information, and we'll create the listings for you.
