A handcarved two colour reduction block linoprint in dark purple and metallic gold depicting a tulip flower and bulb surrounded by jasmine, brambles and mini meteors, encased in a decorative border.
Dimensions: 23.5 cm x 31.5 cm.
I have photographed the prints with different light levels to show that the gold shines when it catches the light. The gold can appear as dark antique gold, or a lighter gold depending on the light source.
Printed in oil based ink on Fabriano Rosaspina 280gsm paper.
This print has been inspired by medieval illustrations found in herbals and illuminated manuscripts. During 'Tulip Mania' in the Dutch Golden Age, tulip bulbs could be bought for the price of a house! The meteors flying around tell something of this extraordinary time, as meteors and comets were viewed as auspicious, and the bringer of strange times.
Each printed is signed and dated, and sent in a secure hard backed package.
