Two uprights made from solid slate with three polished inserts placed within a semi-finished central spine. After wet cutting two grooves down the length of the raw slate and three across the top, the flanks are removed by hard hammer and chisel. Across the spine progressively wider dry files are used to widen the gaps to take the inserts.
I think these uprights convey a sense of darkness and strength.
